SANTA MONICA, CA — Police Sunday were investigating an apparent murder/suicide in Santa Monica, where a man is suspected of shooting his wife to death before turning the gun on himself.
Officers conducting a welfare check in the 3100 block of Pico Boulevard at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday entered the residence and located two deceased adults, according to Lt. Lewis Gilmore of the Santa Monica Police Department.
"The investigation determined that the husband fatally shot his wife before taking his own life," Gilmore said. "Investigators believe the incident occurred at approximately 6:42 a.m. that day. A firearm was recovered at the scene."
No other individuals are believed to be involved, he added.
