SANTA MONICA, CA — Seven victims were found by police responding to reports of a group assault and robbery at Tongva Park earlier this month, with two juveniles subsequently booked on robbery allegations and outstanding warrants, authorities said.

The incident was among several violent crimes detailed in the Santa Monica Police Department's latest Blue Notebook report, published Wednesday, Oct. 28, covering police activity from Oct. 4 through Oct. 10.

According to the department, patrol officers and K9 personnel responded to the downtown park, where they located seven victims and detained several juveniles believed to have been involved in the confrontation. Two juveniles were booked on suspicion of robbery and outstanding warrants, while another was released to a guardian after officers determined there was insufficient evidence to establish involvement.

Reported injuries included a fractured nose and a broken tooth, although police did not specify how many of the seven victims were injured or whether anyone required hospitalization. The department's account left several significant questions unanswered, including when the incident occurred, how the confrontation began, the ages of those involved and whether additional suspects were being sought.

Patch reached out to SMPD on Thursday morning seeking clarification on those details and the status of the investigation. However, the department had not responded by the EOD deadline.

Separate Robbery On Santa Monica Pier

The same police report also detailed a separate robbery investigation on the Santa Monica Pier, where officers responding to a fight in the 300 block found a victim who reported being assaulted and robbed by four individuals.

According to SMPD, officers circulated descriptions of the suspects, leading to the arrests of two juveniles. The victim's backpack was subsequently recovered with its contents intact. Police did not disclose the victim's injuries, the ages of those arrested or whether the other two individuals allegedly involved had been identified.

The department did not indicate that the Pier robbery was connected to the incident at Tongva Park. Both cases were included in SMPD's weekly summary of enforcement activity, which recorded 111 arrests and 2,386 calls for service citywide during the Oct. 4–10 reporting period.

Anyone with information about either incident can contact the Santa Monica Police Department here.
