We (or Us), is a poetic and episodic exploration of myths from around the world, devised onsite during Post Mortem Movement Theater's artist residency at the Annenberg Community Beach House. Choosing stories to honor the cardinal directions and the elements of earth, sky, fire and water, Post Mortem Theater Company celebrates stories of adventure, family, comedy and love. The ensemble utilizes puppetry, acrobatics and a variety of dance forms and draws upon fantastic tales from Egypt, India, China, Japan, and the ancient Greeks and Aztecs.

From the start of onsite rehearsals on June 4 through their public performances July 13-15 and 20-22, the public is invited to witness the company’s creation process. The Company shares their work with public rehearsals onsite, weekly blog posts at beachhouseair.blogspot.com, and workshops, culminating in six performances of We (or Us) July 13-15 & 20-22. For more information, call Guest Services at 310-458-4904 or visit the Beach House website, annenbergbeachhouse.com.

Post Mortem was founded by Artistic Director Angela Lopez in 2013 after the Hollywood Fringe festival success of Ravens and Writing Desks, recipient of a “Best of Fringe” award. Taking its name from its early practice of staging aftershows (or “post-mortems”) on the sets of other shows, the Company is inspired by the reminder that everything fleeting should be cherished, and has evolved a mission to cross social, cultural and language barriers to tell stories of global interest. By drawing upon ancestral tales and augmenting them with modern flair, they aim to celebrate the rich cultural traditions that underpin modern society. Post Mortem has gone on to produce Heiner Muller’s Hamletmachine and a collaboration with House of Rabbits on the Fringe favorite Charivari in Voyeurville, among other productions.
