Bicyclist Killed In Santa Monica Crash Identified: Police

The collision occurred Sunday evening on Pacific Coast Highway​ in Santa Monica, police said.

SANTA MONICA, CA – Authorities Tuesday released the name of a bicyclist who was killed in a collision with a vehicle about 7 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. Kazumasa Nozaki, 23, died at the scene of the collision, according to the coroner's office and Santa Monica police. His home town was not known.

The motorist initially left the scene, but returned and was questioned, said Santa Monica police Lt. Saul Rodriguez.

"A preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist was riding his bicycle northbound along PCH," Rodriguez said Monday. "The involved vehicle was traveling northbound along PCH and struck the bicyclist from the rear. The driver is cooperating with the investigation and there have been no preliminary indications the driver was impaired."
