As modern culture and civilization have evolved in the past decades, we have continually removed ourselves from a consistent relation to nature and its cycles. No longer are we familiar with the gestation cycles of the plants and animals that surround us. This creates an alienation from the world around us, a separation from nature, a virtual reality.
This event is an invitation to create paths to the world around us, to renew the relationship and sustain it so we may continue to be connected. To explore old ways that have resurfaced again so we may benefit from them in the way those that came before us did. Tuning to the land through story breath and song. Allowing us to connect in a physical way to the elements of Fire, Water, Earth and Air in a ritual environment.

If you've ever wanted to try tai chi, now is your chance to learn from a true expert who has over 40 years of experience, including years studying in China and Japan with top masters, such as Chen style tai chi master, Chen Peishan. Come experience authentic tai chi in a no-nonsense, down-to-earth, and easy-to-learn way.
In this special free class, sponsored by Beyond Karate, you'll come away with skills you can practice every day to build strength, improve balance, and practice mindfulness.
The instructor, Guy Horton, brings over 40 years of experience. He is the founder of Palisades Tai Chi, an official tai chi instructor for LA Parks, the Jonathan Club, and runs the tai chi program at Beyond Karate. Guy also serves as an advisor for medical research on tai chi for UCLA and Tufts Medical Schools.
The class will meet in front of the Pico Branch Library.

Reuniting on stage for the first time in more than two decades — and appearing together in the United States for the first time — acclaimed shakuhachi artist John Kaizan Neptune and Grammy-winning ghatam virtuoso Giridhar Udupa come together for an extraordinary evening of music.
Joined by David Neptune on Takeda percussion, Christophe Ambrosino on guitar, and Spencer Hinkle on bass, the quintet explores original compositions shaped by Japanese melodies, South Indian rhythm, jazz improvisation, Latin influences, and musical traditions from around the world.
Across a rare 90-minute performance, the ensemble creates a sound that is at once intimate, adventurous, and deeply immersive. Each performance unfolds as a living conversation where melody, rhythm, and spontaneity meet in the moment.
