Chris Cahill, Dogtown Z-Boys Skater, Dies at 54: Reports

The skateboarder was one of the original Z-Boys members.

Chris Cahill, an original member of the legendary, Santa Monica-based skateboarding group the Dogtown Z-Boys, has died, according to multiple reports. He was 54.

Cahill was reportedly found in his Los Angeles home on June 24, and the cause of death is still under investigation. The Los Angeles Coroner's Office was not able to confirm the information to Santa Monica Patch as of press time.

The original Z-Boys—who also included Stacy Peralta, Jay Adams and Tony Alva, among others—came together at the Zephyr surf shop in Santa Monica in the 1970s. They later took up skateboarding, and their outlandish maneuvers laid the groundwork for the sport in the ensuing decades.
