Coast is the place! Check out this downtown celebration of mobility on Sunday June 5, 2016. The Camera Obscura Art Lab hosts a full slate of music, artist demos and workshops in this year’s expansion of the annual Santa Monica Festival.
Come by and check out Weavers & Spinners from the Socal Handweavers Guild, get an original poem from Brian Sonia-Wallace, practice doodling and meditation with Alexis Macnab, upcycle a t-shirt with Tiffany Peterson, watch printmakers Zeina Baltagi & Patricia Mitchell in action, peer over the shoulders of painters Tim Kitz, Frank Valdez, & Miles Lewis, see how feltmaker Sara Smelt creates a portrait out of wool, warm yourself by the kiln of enamelist Sharon Kaplan, sing along to rock, pop and folk favorites with composer Jon Lee.
Try out Zumba with Diana Flores, dance your groove with Sarah Marsh-Chiba, and try out hula hoop fitness with Julia Snyder. Ocean Ave from Wilshire south to Colorado, Colorado eastwards from Ocean to 5th, and Main from Colorado south to Marine, are all closed to traffic - pedestrians, bicyclists, joggers, skaters are all invited to take Metro or walk over to the action. And of course, our historic Camera Obscura is open for those of you who haven’t climbed the tower to see our panorama made of sunlight. See you soon!
