Creating a robust, safe, and diverse commercial environment scaled properly to SM is essential!

Creating a robust and diverse commercial environment scaled properly to our specific city is essential for everyone. Lately the mixed signals coming from City Hall just confuse local stakeholders and residents alike.

Handing out almost automatic project approvals tells our neighborhoods to expect unending out-of-scale development. Our local government needs to deliver clear and consistent messaging that future development in Santa Monica stays right-sized with a strict resident-first emphasis. Instead of bowing to Sacramento, I will firmly demand local control and push back hard against the state overreach trying to constantly override our zoning laws.

Conducting fact-based assessments and having direct conversations with local landlords helps identify exactly what drives commercial challenges block by block. A truly vibrant and healthy city supports long-time residents, new arrivals and local businesses equally.
