Theme: When You're Hoping for a Miracle
"Then Jesus left the Pharisees and went in the boat to the other side of the lake. His followers had only one loaf of bread with them in the boat; they had forgotten to bring more. Jesus warned them, ‘Be careful! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.’ His followers discussed the meaning of this, saying, ‘He said this because we have no bread.’” (Mark 8:13-16 NCV)
Yeast puffs up bread. Pride puffs up the head. Pride is present in all arguments. It's hard to see God's miracles unfolding in our lives if we are getting angry at the littlest things. Pride is present there- we aren't humble enough to let God handle the issue that's making us angry. In my life, pride looks like stress. I'm too prideful to trust God with helping me with the tasks he has given me to do, and what do you know? That's when I'm most irritable.
Prayer: God, pride is hard to see, help me recognize it in my life.
Example: School pride is acceptable, yet also at the root of many arguments. ;) Picture: Compliments of Jake's snapchat
