Free Astro Doughnuts For Heal The Bay's Coastal Cleanup Day

SANTA MONICA, CA – Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken will be handing out free doughnuts to the first 100 participants at the Heal the Bay Coastal Cleanup day on September 15, thanks to a new partnership announced Thursday. In addition, a limited time only “Heal the Bay” doughnut will be available for purchase at the Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken Downtown L.A. location and on the Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken Truck, from September 15 through November 15 with all proceeds from sales of this specialty doughnut going to Heal the Bay, according to the press release.

Astro Fried Chicken & Doughnuts will be opening in Santa Monica later this year. The "Heal the Bay" doughnut – inspired by tiki cocktails – features a blue-marble coconut glaze, and is garnished with pineapple and graham cracker crumbs, the press release said.

“I’ve been an avid supporter and fundraiser of Heal the Bay for many years, and am excited to offer a doughnut that will help support this great cause and keep our beaches clean,” said Art Levitt, West Coast Partner of Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken.

Thousands of volunteers across Los Angeles County come out to pick up trash throughout the area on Heal The Bay’s Coastal Cleanup Day. Last year’s Coastal Cleanup day saw more than a half million people in 112 countries – and in 43 U.S. states – remove 18.3 million pounds of debris from beaches, streams, and other waterways and parks, according to the press release. The annual volunteer effort, which is Guinness Book of World Records' "largest garbage collection ever organized," provides Southern California residents with the chance to beautify their neighborhood, local waters, or beach.

The first 100 participants in the Santa Monica beach cleanup on September 15 will be rewarded with a free specialty doughnut between 9:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. from the Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken Truck which will be parked near the Santa Monica Pier.
