Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

Theme: Habits of Happiness

"Then the LORD spoke his word to Elijah, ‘Go to Zarephath in Sidon and live there. I have commanded a widow there to take care of you.’ So Elijah went to Zarephath.” (1 Kings 17:8-10a NCV)

I heard this a lot from my rowing coaches. Get comfortable with uncomfortable. It's not comfortable to scrunch yourself in a tiny ball slowly coming up the slide to put your oar in the water. It's not comfortable keeping your hand in the fire and pushing harder when every muscle fiber inside of you is telling you you've had enough. Some parts of life are just this uncomfortable. With a spiritual perspective, you can see that time as a road to a miracle. You don't need miracles when you're comfortable, you need them when you're so tired you can't keep your eyes open and you need to study. When you're scared and nothing feels right, that's when God says the time is right... for your miracle.

Prayer: God, help me to know you're there when I'm roughing it.

Example: No miracles for these dogs. They are too comfortable.
