Why Go: Get down with your bad self and show your kids your impressive dance moves when the Zimmer hosts a museum-wide dance party!

Where/When: Griffith Observatory; June 11, 2 to 9:45 p.m.

Why Go: Join the Los Angeles Astronomical Society and the Los Angeles Sidewalk Society in gazing at the stars, sun, moon and planets. And by join, I mean look through their gigantic telescopes and pepper them with questions.

SANTA MONICA PADDLEBOARD RACE & OCEAN FESTIVAL

Why Go: Sun, surf, , and competition. Yep, this event has got it all! Cheer on the participants in the paddleboard or dory competitions or help clean up the beach, or just lounge and soak up some warming Santa Monica rays while checking out the cool surfboard displays!

KIDS ROCK

Where/When: Hancock Park; June 11, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate the great outdoors with this fun festival sponsored by the Children’s Nature Institute! There will be face painting, a “Dino-Dig,” mosaic making, gourmet food trucks, live music and the WonderMobile classroom, which offers live animals, and cool artifacts you can touch and hold!
