Happy 'National French Fry Day' 2018: Freebies & Deals

CALIFORNIA – Friday, July 13 is the humble tater's day to shine: It's "National French Fry Day."

Whether sliced, julienned, thick-cut, deep-fried, salted or seasoned, dipped in ketchup or smothered with cheese and chili, the French fry is an American favorite side dish, although its actual origin remains a subject of debate.

But let's skip right to the important stuff: where to get 'em for free!

DUNKIN' DONUTS: On Friday, July 13, the first 100 guests at five participating locations in the Southland - from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - will receive a free order of Donut Fries, Dunkin's new, sweet spin on classic fries - croissant-style donut dough tossed in cinnamon sugar and served warm "with just the right amount of crisp." For those not living near they giveaway spots, the Donut Fries are $2 and available at all Dunkin’ locations.

FARMER BOYS: Get a free side of fries with the purchase of a burger when you order in-store. Details and participating locations here.

McDONALD'S: Every Friday through the end of the year, get a free medium order of fries with a $1 purchase (for mobile app users only).

RED ROBIN: Five new $6.99 burgers are being served with free bottomless steak fries. See your options.

SAJJ MEDITERRANEAN: Celebrate National Fry Day with a free side of fries. Offer is valid all day long on Friday, July 13 at SAJJ’s location in Rancho Santa Margarita, 22245 El Paseo. Those in other cities may wish to check participation with their nearest site. List here.

SUR LA TABLE: You can make delicious fries at home. In honor of National French Fry Day, Sur La Table is offering 40 percent off air fryers. The promo runs July 12 to July 15.
