House Hunt: Green Building Open House
The environmentally friendly 21st at Montana is set to be the first dual-branded project in Santa Monica.

The 2011 Santa Monica Green Building Open House is happening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and one of the featured properties will be a new town-home community called 21st at Montana.
The almost-finished project features six contemporary homes and is set to be the first dual-branded project in the city, which means it will have achieved Gold LEED certification through the U.S. Green Building Council; and a Green Point Rated designation via Build It Green, a California organization.
The environmentally friendly homes will feature water-saving kitchen and bath fixtures, water-saving toilets and roof-top solar panels. They'll also be pre-wired so that electrical-vehicle charging stations can be installed. The homes will have large roof decks, high ceilings, glass-enclosed stair systems and two-car garages as well.

“21st at MONTANA epitomizes the Santa Monica progressive lifestyle. It has a coastal elegance with many smart features,” said Lauri Lappin, who is the director of design, marketing and sales at Pacific Cove Development, Inc., the builder and developer behind the project. “Ultimately, it’s a balance between functionality and design; we have focused our attention on all the right details.”
Also at the open house—which is helping kick off this year's AltBuild Expo—PCD's builder partners will speak about the products and systems they installed in the town homes.
