Here's the latest lowdown on houses and units for sale in Santa Monica.
This week, Santa Monica Patch reached out to a bunch of realtors and brokers about properties up for sale in SM. They reached back with loads of info. Here's the result:
• 1063 26th St., Santa Monica, Calif. 90403: A home formerly owned by famous German playwright Bertolt Brecht is on the block. (Incidentally, Santa Monica High School students his musical, Three Penny Opera, this weekend.) According to Gaby & Associates, Brecht wrote the following about the house, in his diary: “[It's] about 30 years old, California clapboard, whitewashed, with an upper floor with 4 bedrooms. i have a long workroom (almost 7 meters), which we immediately whitewashed and equipped with 4 tables. there are old trees in the garden (a pepper-tree and a fig-tree). rent is $60 per month, $12.50 more than in 25th street.” 'Course, that was back in the 1940s. Currently, the house is going for $1,650,000. Contact Gaby & Associates at 310.586.0308 for more info.
