LA Marathon 2021 Finish Line Leaving Santa Monica
For the first time in years, the LA Marathon will not end in Santa Monica. Find out where it's planned to stop instead.

SANTA MONICA, CA — The finish line for the LA Marathon in 2021 will not end in Santa Monica, the group that organizes the annual race announced last week.
For the first time in 11 years, participants will not stop at California and Ocean avenues, The McCourt Foundation announced Thursday. Organizers said that the race is slated to end in Century City instead.
It came down to space for hosting the large number of people attending the event, Murphy Reinschreiber, the chief operating officer of the McCourt Foundation, told The Los Angeles Times.

"We had a footprint challenge in Santa Monica, just from a space perspective,” Reinschreiber told The Times. “We realized that there’s so much more we could do if we just had a bigger footprint at the finish line.”
Moving the finish line is also expected to give more access space for VIPs and other organizations that help organize the race.

Athletes will enjoy world-class entertainment and celebrate one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world as the course winds through Downtown Los Angeles, Little Tokyo, Hollywood, and more. The course will follow its traditional route until Brentwood, where runners double back on San Vicente, Sepulveda and Santa Monica Blvd before finishing at Avenue of the Stars. This exciting change allows for a more vibrant and interactive finish experience than previously possible. It will provide the opportunity for much greater spectator participation for family and friends with enhanced post-race activities including the Finish Festival with concerts and sponsor activations and puts runners close to hotels, transportation, and nightlife in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the best of LA. #LAMarathon See more at the link in our bio!
