Lifeguards Rescue Boat Taking On Water Near Santa Monica, Malibu

Los Angeles County lifeguards Wednesday rescued one person in a boat that was taking on water, officials said.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Lifeguards Wednesday were rescuing one person in a privately-owned 46-foot boat that was taking on water near Santa Monica and Malibu.

Only one person was on board and no injuries were reported, Marvin Lim, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, told Patch.

"It’s not sinking," Lim added.

A vessel was reported having about two or three feet of water at 9:42 a.m. at Zone 2B in the Pacific Ocean.

Baywatch del Rey and Baywatch Santa Monica were both on the scene, Pono Barnes of the Los Angeles County Fire Department told Patch.

"They currently have the boat undertow right now, and they are currently dewatering it," Barnes said. "The vessel is stable as of now."

Crews will use a pump to remove the water and keep the boat floating, Barnes said.
