Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Santa Monica

A 43-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after paramedics said they found his girlfriend suffering from severe head trauma.

SANTA MONICA, CA – The LA District Attorney's Office filed charges on a 43-year-old man for his involvement in an attempt homicide in Santa Monica, it was announced Thursday.

On Feb. 8 at about 1:13 p.m., Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to the 1100 block of 6th Street regarding a radio call for service of "suspicious circumstances," according to police. Santa Monica Fire Department Paramedics were on scene treating a woman and noticed she had suffered severe head trauma, so they notified SMPD, police said.

The woman was transported to a hospital and is still in critical condition, according to authorities.

The victim’s boyfriend, Kevin Ferron, was at the home when paramedics arrived, police said. SMPD Detectives believe the victim’s injuries resulted from criminal activity, based on the preliminary investigation. The investigation led to Ferron as the primary suspect in the investigation, and he was taken into police custody on the evening of the incident, SMPD said.

Ferron was charged with attempted murder and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/co-habitant after prior conviction, police said. He remains in custody pending future court proceedings with a bail option of $2.33 million.
