Move Over Birds, Lime Scooters Come To Santa Monica

The electric scooters, called Lime-S, join the Lime-E electric bikes that are already in Santa Monica.

SANTA MONICA, CA – Lime – formerly known as LimeBike – will be rolling out electric scooters in Santa Monica Thursday morning. The company recently launched Lime-E electric bikes in the city, which will be joined by the new Lime-S scooters as part of the first ever multi-modal transportation service in Los Angeles County.

The Lime-S scooters will join the Lime-E electric bikes that the company recently launched in Santa Monica as part of the first smart multi-modal transportation service in Los Angeles county.

"Our new Lime-S model is the most advanced shared electric scooter model of any mobility company in the country," a Lime representative told Patch. "The new scooters, developed in partnership with Segway, have enhanced safety features and a longer battery life, which is why we’re thrilled to provide them for residents and visitors of Santa Monica to enjoy."

Lime-S scooters cost $1 to unlock and $0.15 per minute of riding. To celebrate our launch, riders can use the code “LIMEWITHLA1” to receive a $3 credit for their first ride. The scooters have support from a local official, too.

“We need to do more to reduce our heavy dependence on cars and transform the way Angelenos get around the city,” City Councilmember Joe Buscaino said. “This past weekend, I partnered with Lime on a Lime-S Scooter pop up event in my district. The reactions we received were overwhelmingly positive.”
