National Night Out Returns To Santa Monica With Food, Music And Family Fun

SANTA MONICA, CA — Santa Monica's annual National Night Out celebration is set to return next week, bringing together first responders, community organizations and residents for an evening of free activities aimed at strengthening neighborhood connections.

Hosted by the Santa Monica Police Department, this year's event carries a Hollywood-inspired "Lights. Camera. Community." theme and will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, outside Santa Monica City Hall at 1685 Main St.

National Night Out is a nationwide campaign that encourages partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve while promoting crime prevention and neighborhood engagement.

Organizers say attendees can expect live music, food and activities for all ages, along with opportunities to meet Santa Monica police officers, firefighters and representatives from a variety of local organizations.

The police department will also display patrol vehicles and specialized equipment, giving visitors a closer look at some of the tools officers use every day, plus police K-9s are also expected to make an appearance.

The event is free to attend. Parking will be free that evening in the city parking structure at Olympic Boulevard and Fourth Street, while the Big Blue Bus will offer complimentary rides throughout the night for passengers who mention National Night Out.

The annual event has become a popular summer tradition in Santa Monica, drawing families and visitors to the Civic Center area for an evening focused on public safety, community involvement, and getting to know the people behind the badge.
