Ocean Water Bacteria Warning Issued For Beach Areas Near Santa Monica
The LA County Department of Public Health is advising people to avoid swimming, surfing, and playing in some ocean waters due to bacteria.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY — The LA County Department of Public Health is advising the public to avoid swimming, surfing, and playing in ocean waters at certain beaches due to elevated bacteria levels that exceed state health standards.
The warnings have been issued due to recent water samples showing bacterial levels that exceed health standards, which may increase the risk of illness.
The warning applies to the following locations:

- Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu: 100 yards up and down the coast from the lagoon.
- Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the public restrooms.
- Latigo Shore Drive in Malibu: 100 yards up and down the coast from the public access steps.
- Escondido Creek at Escondido State Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the creek.
- Castlerock Storm Drain at Topanga County Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain.
- Tunas Canyon at Las Tunas County Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain.
