Ring In The New Year From The Safety And Comfort Of Home: Pacific Park Presents 'New Year’s Eve Countdown To 2021 On The Pacific Wheel' Virtual Event (Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier)

Stay at home this New Year’s Eve and watch the West Coast’s countdown to 2021 online and streaming on social media from Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, one of the most iconic sites in Los Angeles. The “West Coast New Year’s Eve Countdown 2021 on The Pacific Wheel” streams live on December 31, beginning at 11:30 p.m., and will feature fun designs, colorful displays, and a 60-second countdown in huge animated numbers on the Pacific Wheel.

Using a variety of colors and patterns from its 174,000 LED lights, the Ferris wheel will present a numerical 60-second countdown, a “Happy New Year!” horizontal crawl, an oversized “2021,” and display “Happy New Year” in 16 different languages following the countdown including Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, German, French, and Japanese. The annual Pacific Park New Year’s Eve Ferris wheel West Coast countdown occurs at the most Instagrammed location in Los Angeles.

Whether reveling or relaxing, viewers can go to www.pacpark.com/countdown2021 for the live streaming New Year’s Eve presentation from the Pacific Wheel’s live cam or pick a platform on social media including Facebook, YouTube or Twitter.

“Now, from anywhere in America guests can enjoy the 90-feet tall countdown numbers to ring in the New Year that brilliantly light up 40 feet over the Pacific Ocean atop the Santa Monica Pier,” said Nathan Smithson, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. “This New Year’s Eve presentation is all about celebrating in safety and in the comfort of your own home or safe space as we all weather the pandemic together.”

Shining nightly now through the New Year’s Eve preshow, Pacific Park presents a “Holiday Light Spectacular” featuring colors and patterns of the season including red, green, blue and white, and several holiday-themed icons such as wreaths, reindeer, animated falling snow and even a 90-feet-tall Snowman that waves merrily high above the Santa Monica Pier.

The Pacific Wheel’s 174,000 LED lights are mounted on the Ferris wheel’s structure including the 40 spokes and two hubs. The world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel’s lighting system features 16.7 million color value combinations displaying dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment.

The Santa Monica Pier is now open 24 hours. However, Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier’s rides and attractions, including the Pacific Wheel and West Coaster, remain closed until further notice.
