Pacific Wheel Lights Up To Remind Southern California To Save Energy

The Conserve Energy SoCal campaign will host light shows at the Pacific Wheel on the Santa Monica Pier every other Wednesday.

SANTA MONICA, CA — As the last bit of light creeps below the horizon, something else will light up: the Pacific Wheel on the Santa Monica pier. Every other Wednesday this summer, the 2017 Conserve Energy SoCal campaign will present special light programs on the solar-powered Pacific Wheel, and will feature "brilliant images and colors in the shape of the sun, light bulbs, and fans to remind Southern Californians to take action to conserve natural gas and electricity," according to a Conserve Energy SoCal press release.

Conserve Energy SoCal is a joint campaign by the Energy Providers of Southern California, a group of natural gas and electric utilities, along with the California Public Utilities Commission, California Independent System Operator and local city governments.

In addition to light shows at the Pacific Wheel, the “Hot Days, Hot Deals” program is also taking place. The program includes a series of promotions and discounts offered by local businesses, designed to encourage people to get out of the house and reduce personal energy usage, by checking out some of the great retailers and attractions SoCal has to offer.
