Photos: Volunteers Show Up To Clean Santa Monica
People arrived early Monday to start cleaning up Santa Monica City Hall, downtown businesses, and damaged areas through the city.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Volunteers headed to downtown Santa Monica early Monday with trash bags, brooms, and other cleaning supplies from their homes to help recovery efforts downtown.
City officials had welcomed volunteers to join the recovery efforts at 9 a.m. near city hall following looting and damage to businesses throughout Santa Monica's downtown area.
Local families, including children, helped scrub graffiti off the steps of Santa Monica Courthouse.

A torched car outside Santa Monica's Civic Auditorium was towed, while crews continued to paint over damaged walls.
Along Main Street, businesses began boarding up glass windows shattered overnight. Many businesses in the area remained closed.
