Police Chase Ends In Santa Monica After Beginning In Marina del Rey

The driver, wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, did stunts during the chase through MDR, Venice and Santa Monica.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A police pursuit that began in Marina del Rey ended in Santa Monica Thursday afternoon after the suspect surrendered near Memorial Park, according to reports.

Los Angeles Police Department officers began the pursuit in Marina del Rey after a suspect attempted to ram into a patrol vehicle, Fox 11 reported. The driver was wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, KTLA reported.

Helicopter video showed the suspect driving erratically and doing donuts in a black Honda Accord through Venice and into Santa Monica. Officers attempted to deploy spike strips but the motorist dodged them.

KTLA reported that the driver ran over a spike strip on Lincoln Boulevard. The pursuit came to an end when the suspect surrendered near Colorado Avenue and 14th Street around 12:30 p.m.
