Being diagnosed with a condition that needs daily management is not easy. In fact, checking blood sugar levels is frustrating enough without public judgment. Just ask Myabetic’s founder, Kyrra Richards, a professional dancer and model who was diagnosed with diabetes at 24 years old.

“I was ashamed to carry and use my diabetes supplies because I didn’t want to be associated with a disease,” explains Richards.

Years later, Richards decided to do something about it and Myabetic, a Los Angeles based startup, was born. Her focus was to fight embarrassment that is associated with diabetes by creating fashionable cases to store diabetes testing tools such as glucose meters, test strips, insulin pens & vials, syringes, alcohol swabs, glucose tabs, etc. By swapping out a bland look for a vibrant one, Richards is tackling the common issue amongst people with diabetes who purposely forget their supplies or ignore their doctor’s orders to avoid drawing attention to their less-than-perfect sugar levels.

Target, which is known for providing fashionable products at reduced prices, took notice of Myabetic’s fashionable diabetes cases at a trade show. A year later, Myabetic diabetes organizers are now available nationwide.
