Santa Monica Man Found Guilty In Shooting Murder Of Teen
The 18-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the head last year.

SANTA MONICA, CA – A Santa Monica man was found guilty of murdering an 18-year-old last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
Sherwin Mendoza Espinosa, 43, was found guilty Tuesday of one count of second-degree murder. Espinosa is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 12, and faces 40 years to life in state prison.
The victim, former Santa Monica High School student Juan Castillo, was found with a gunshot wound to the head just after 5 a.m. in the 1300 block of 16th Street in Santa Monica on Feb. 26, 2017 the prosecutor said.

Police determined the teen was shot in the 2100 block of Pico Boulevard and walked toward the UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center where he died.
The case was investigated by the Santa Monica Police Department.
