SANTA MONICA, CA — Santa Monica police have arrested a suspect accused of throwing a glass bottle at a police officer during civil unrest and looting in Santa Monica on May 31.

Drew Miller, 38, was arrested Friday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.

Police say Drew threw a full 40-ounce glass bottle at a police officer's head.

"The large bottle shattered on the peace officer's helmet causing injury," according to a Santa Monica police news release.

He was taken to the Santa Monica Jail facility and held on $500,000 bail.
