Santa Monica Rescue Takes In 34 Hurricane Harvey Strays

Karma Rescue flew 34 dogs affected by Tropical Storm Harvey from Texas to Santa Monica in hopes of getting them adopted out.

SANTA MONICA, CA – Karma Rescue, a Santa Monica-based animal rescue organization, flew 34 dogs affected by Tropical Storm Harvey from Texas to the Los Angeles area on a private jet over the weekend to get them adopted out to new families, Orange County Register reported.

Representatives and volunteers from the rescue flew to Austin where Houston dogs were taken in order to free up Austin shelter space, KTLA reported. Alex Tonner, the organization’s director of operations, told KTLA that there are thousands of dogs affected by the storm that need homes.

“It’s really dire out there,” Tonner said. “People really need to step up and help.”
