SHINE is a popular storytelling event that highlights storytellers coming together once a month on Sunday evenings to share inspiring true stories. The event is known for its powerful and entertaining stories, relaxed community atmosphere, and live music.
SHINE will be hosted this month by Deana Barone, a dynamic storyteller, solo performer, playwright, and director. She has acted Off-Broadway, in film, TV, commercials and voice over. She also created and ran The Trunk Show, a monthly multi-genre storytelling event, and teaches storytelling classes in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. She directs and develops solo pieces, is a guest artist/teacher at UC Santa Barbara and Cal State LA, and works with business innovators using story as a sales tool through The TellTale Company.

Live music will be performed by Brenda Varda, an exciting singer/songwriter, award-winning playwright and actor. Brenda will be performing her show Nine Dresses at Sacred Fools for the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June (www.nine-dressses.com). Her new show, This is my Garbage, will be featured in the Son of Semele Solo Creation Festival in July.
Storytellers for SHINE are chosen from some of the nation’s top award-winning storytellers, writers, and performers. New storytellers of all ages and walks of life also take the stage. Six storytellers are booked in advance, and one is chosen from the audience in a random drawing.
