Single Mom's Awards Show Celebration

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (April 17, 2016) – When Neferteri Plessy’s marriage broke up five (5) years ago, she quickly realized how difficult life can be for single mothers. With two toddlers to care for and an uncertain future, Plessy dedicated herself to creating a stable home and nurturing environment for herself and her children.

“I found how challenging just going to the store or doing errands would be when you have children to care for,” said Plessy. “I had to coordinate everything with my ex-husband, friends, my mother and even my daycare provider to make sure the kids were taken care of so I could go to work or do all those things that many people take for granted.”

By working as a fashion model and embarking on her own career in marketing and advertising, Plessy found her hidden talent for creating marketing and business strategies and created her own marketing/public relations firm Pro PR Marketing. As her success grew, Plessy created Single Moms Planet, which will present “The Single Mom’s Awards” on May 6 at The Peninsula Beverly Hills. The event will be hosted by actress Shanna Moakler (VH1’s “Hollywood Exes”).

“My mom was a full time single mother and she took care of me growing up, but she didn’t have guidance or a group of women who could help her,” said Plessy who is organizing the event. “With Single Moms Planet, I wanted to make sure single mothers didn’t feel alone. I remember when I first became a single mom and I didn’t know what to do, and I was ashamed that I got divorced. I felt really bad that my family wasn’t together anymore. But Single Moms Planet brings single moms together and shows them that they’re not alone.”

With the success of her business and a resurgence in her modeling work, Plessy has dedicated herself to her career and to Single Moms Planet in its efforts to create a movement and provide needed assistance to struggling single mothers in the Los Angeles area and throughout the US. The organization offers parenting classes, job training, counseling, medical referrals and other services.

“I learned how difficult and expensive life is for single moms who don’t have the support of their employer, friends or family members,” she said. “Many times I wondered how I was going to be able to pay for my kids’ doctor’s bills, daycare and other bills. It brought me a whole new understanding of the plight of single mothers.”

The Single Moms Awards honorees include actress Mayte Garcia (“Love Don’t Cost a Thing”), actress Troy Byer (“John Q”), Autumn Calabrese, (Beahbody Celebrity Trainer), Lisa Langlois, Actor), Melissa Kieling, CEO of Packit; Mrs. Jackie B. The fund-raising event will attract a number of celebrities, city officials and community members who support Single Moms Planet and its effort to assist single mothers and their families.

As a fashion model and TV host, Neferteri Plessy is known for her work in the new film “The Man in 3B,” as well as on the TV series “Big City,” Starz Network’s “The B Side,” HGTV’s “Design In A Day” and more.
