Superman and The Legend

With two players knocked out of commission in the first quarter, Lighthouse Christian Academy took it to Lucerne Valley on Thursday in a grueling brawl of a football game.

Senior Alex Brick and Sophomore lineman Jong Ho Lee were forced out of the game (Jong Ho went to the hospital). Without team captain Alex (starting left guard), prospects looked dim in the first quarter.

Nevertheless, the Saints fought bitterly against the Mustangs. Justice Neos launched himself into flight like Superman over a lineman and hit the running back, stripping the ball and dispossessing the opponent before landing back on earth in the second half.

The final score was 36-40.

The Saints rued several touchdown passes dropped.

The Saints scored on their first drive and likely would have continued unstoppable if not for the injuries. The Saints have only 10 players on their squad to field enough for eight man football.

At the hospital with a dislocated elbow, Jong Ho asked, "How's the team doing? Are they winning?"

What a legend.

"They played really well," said George Neos, interim defensive coordinator. The defensive coach, yours truly, went to the hospital with Jong Ho.

After the late night game came a two-hour ride back to Santa Monica. Most of the players didn't even come to class.

But Jong Ho did.
