Westside Should Avoid PCH For Woolsey Fire Evacuees
The explosive, fast-burning fire has burned 14,000-acres and forced more than 75,000 to evacuate.

SANTA MONICA, CA – The fast-moving Woosley Fire in Ventura and Los Angeles counties has prompted evacuations in Malibu and areas near the 101 Freeway, leaving Pacific Coast Highway significantly impacted with traffic backed up for miles.
In order to facilitate safe evacuations, city officials are asking Westside residents to avoid using Pacific Coast Highway to allow evacuating cars to travel southbound and emergency responders to travel northbound.
Sections of the 101 Freeway and Canyon roads are also closed.

The City of Santa Moncia said individuals in areas threatened by fire should use the following steps to ensure households are prepared to evacuate:
- Review your evacuation checklist.
- Put your disaster kit in your vehicle.
- Wear appropriate clothing. It is recommended to wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, heavy boots, a hat, and mask to protect yourself from heat and smoke.
- Locate your pets and evacuate with them.
- Know where your location evacuation centers are located and how you would get there.
