Whiz Kid: Lauren Nadel Is Named All-CIF in Water Polo

Lauren Nadel of is a member of the All-CIF Southern Section Division VI girls water polo team, as selected by the Southern California Water Polo Coaches' Association.

The Michigan-bound senior driver led the Vikings with 63 goals, 17 assists and 64 steals in the 2010-11 winter season. She scored four or more goals in a game on 10 occasions, including a season-high 10 goals in a 13-6 victory over Yorba Linda.

“She does just about everything," Samohi Coach Matthew Flanders said of Nadel. "She's our offensive powerhouse.”

Joining Nadel on the Division VI squad are JoJo White, Alyse Farrar and Sophie Galate of Malibu; Kayla Casas, Ivana Castro and Saree Waugh of Warren; Katherine Gabayeron of Cerritos, Denise Hager of Western; Hannah Lowell of La Quinta; Colette Gulick and Hayden Green of El Segundo; and Gen Baumaunn and Jenna Solberg of Chadwick.

Coach of the Year honors went to Josie Cordero of Warren, which beat Malibu 8-7 in overtime in the Division VI championship game. Samohi finished 13-14 overall and won the Ocean League.
