Woman At Westside Elementary Tries To Coax Child To Come With Her

A Roosevelt Elementary School student was waiting for his mom to pick him up when he was approached by the stranger.

SANTA MONICA, CA – Authorities are asking for the public's help Thursday in identifying and locating a woman who tried to coax a student at a Santa Monica elementary school into coming with her.

Sometime after 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 23, a student at Roosevelt Elementary School, 801 Montana Ave., was waiting to be picked up by his mother near the 9th Street gate of the school when he was approached by a woman in her 30s, who tried to talk him into leaving with her, the Santa Monica Police Department reported.

The boy thought the action was suspicious, did not know who she was and stood his ground. The woman walked to a black SUV -- which police described as possibly an Audi SUV -- parked against the curb on Ninth Street. She was last seen driving southbound on Ninth Street.

She had either a British or Australian accent, authorities said.
