1 Person Found Dead In House Fire In East County

EL CAJON, CA – Firefighters responding to a house fire in El Cajon Thursday found a person dead inside, officials said.

Dispatchers received reports of the fire shortly after 5 a.m. at a home in the 900 block of South Magnolia Avenue, according to Heartland Fire & Rescue.

Crews responding to the fire found a person dead near the front door. The cause of death was not immediately determined.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

The El Cajon Police Department tweeted that Magnolia Avenue between Renette Avenue and Chase Avenue was shut down during the incident.
