1 Wounded, 1 Arrested In Shooting At East County Apartment

The suspect and the victim appeared to know each other and were arguing prior to the shooting in El Cajon, police said.

EL CAJON, CA — One person was wounded and another was arrested after an argument escalated into a shooting at an apartment complex in eastern San Diego County.

Officers responded to a call of multiple gunshots at 11:05 a.m. Monday at the complex in the 200 Block of Van Houten in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department. Police found a victim who had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper leg. The victim was taken to a hospital.

A witness reported seeing the shooter flee to the north following the gunfire, police Lt. Keith MacArthur said. Officers spotted a man matching the suspect's description in the 200 block of El Cajon Blvd. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Quinton Darensbourg, was arrested and the firearm was recovered.

Darensbourg and the victim appeared to know each other and were arguing prior to the shooting, MacArthur said. It was unclear what the argument was about.
