3 Arrested, 14 Cited During DUI Checkpoint In Santee

Sheriff's officials said 905 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

SANTEE, CA — Three drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during a driver's license and sobriety checkpoint over the weekend in Santee.

The checkpoint took place from 8 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday in the 8800 block North Magnolia Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's officials said 905 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 57 drivers sent to a secondary inspection area for further evaluation. Deputies arrested three drivers on suspicion of DUI involving alcohol.

In addition, 14 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a license or with a suspended or revoked license. Five vehicles were impounded during the operation, officials said.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
