80-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck At East County Costco

LA MESA, CA — An elderly woman died Wednesday after she was struck by a vehicle in a Costco driveway, authorities said.

The collision was reported at 12:09 p.m. at Costco at 8125 Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa, according to the La Mesa Police Department.

Police said she was struck by a vehicle pulling out of the driveway. Officers found her lying unresponsive in the roadway.

Paramedics took the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Her name was withheld pending family notification.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation. Police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the crash. Anyone with information was asked to call 619-667-1400.
