EL CAJON, CA — Federal charges were announced Monday against six people with suspected ties to an El Cajon gang accused of engaging in violent crimes and trafficking drugs and firearms.
A grand jury indictment alleges members and associates of the gang, which mainly operated out of the Terraza Hills Apartments in El Cajon, took part in violent acts that include the assault and robbery of someone they believed cooperated with law enforcement, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
One defendant is also charged with witness tampering and witness harassment for allegedly coercing a robbery victim into telling police that a video depicting an apparent robbery was actually part of a music video.
All six defendants are in custody and charged under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, which targets patterns of racketeering activity conducted as part of a criminal enterprise.
