• Homicide Investigation Underway After Man Found Dead, Another Man Hurt In Santee (patch.com) — Santee neighbors are on edge after deputies found one man dead and another injured and arrested following a reported assault with a deadly weapon at a home on Grand Fork Drive. Investigators say the incident appears isolated and there is no ongoing threat, but they are asking anyone with information to contact the sheriff's Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
   

• Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Arson After Santee Brush Fire (patch.com) — A transient man was arrested after deputies say he admitted to starting a small brush fire in the San Diego River bottom in Santee, near Cuyamaca Street and Town Center Parkway. The Santee Fire Department quickly knocked down the 10-by-10-foot blaze, which caused no property damage or evacuations, but the case highlights ongoing fire risk in this river corridor.
