Armed Man Arrested In Santee After Allegedly Threatening Home Depot Employee

Police found the man found hiding in a restroom of a nearby IHOP.

SANTEE, CA – A man was arrested Thursday in Santee after he allegedly confronted Home Depot employees, threatening one of them with a gun, authorities said.

The suspect allegedly threatened an employee with an airsoft pistol around 6:20 p.m. before fleeing the store at 255 Town Center Parkway on foot, sheriff's Sgt. Michael McNeill said. No one was hurt.

After receiving reports from the public, police found the man found hiding in a restroom of a nearby IHOP at 9708 Mission George Road, McNeill said.

An investigation revealed that the suspect confronted the employees in the Home Depot parking lot after he was questioned inside the store about a possible theft, McNeill said. Deputies later discovered no theft had occurred.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the San Diego County Jail on suspicion of criminal threats and resisting arrest. His name was not immediately released.
