Authorities ID Santee Jogger Fatally Struck By Alleged DUI Driver
Susana Gotell, 41, of Santee, was struck and killed by a truck driven by an allegedly intoxicated driver.
SANTEE, CA – Authorities have released the name of the 41-year-old woman struck and killed by a truck driven by an allegedly intoxicated driver as she jogged in her East County hometown.
Susana Gotell of Santee was running in the 11000 block of North Woodside Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday when an eastbound 2017 Chevrolet pickup drifted to the right into a chain-link fence, then veered across the roadway and hit her before careening down a dirt embankment and overturning, according to the California Highway Patrol and the county Medical Examiner's Office.
Medics took Gotell to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where she was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The driver, 46-year-old Michael Jason Woodfill of Santee, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, DUI and other charges. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
