Body Found In Pond In San Diego's East County

LAKESIDE, CA — The body of an unidentified man was found early Monday in a pond in eastern San Diego County, authorities said.

A welfare check of the body was requested shortly before 3:30 a.m. in the area of Moreno Drive and Willow Road in Lakeside, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The department's Search and Rescue Dive Team recovered the body of a roughly 50-year-old man, sheriff's Lt. Chris Steffen said.

"At this point, the death is suspicious in nature; however, there is no indication of foul play," Steffen said. "The circumstances of this incident are still under investigation."
