Grossmont College Music Dept. presents Tchaikovsky’s `The Nutcracker,’ Dec. 1, 2

Leaping Cossacks! Get ready for flurries of snowflakes and a legion of rats. They all swoop and soar across the stage at favorite holiday event, Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker."

The Grossmont College Music Department's Grossmont Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale, in partnership with the San Diego Ballet, will present two special performances of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Birch North Park Theatre, 2891 University Ave., San Diego.

 

This magical holiday favorite, presented at the restored 730-seat Birch North Park Theatre with a live full orchestra will feature 100 costumed dancers, reveling in Tchaikovsky's beloved score on an enchanting journey through a landscape of Yuletide dreams, including swirling snowflakes, leaping Cossacks and the lovely Sugar Plum Fairy.

The joint production has been described by critics as charming, witty, magical and the best choreographed production in San Diego. The production is directed and choreographed by Robin Sheretz-Morgan and Javier Velasco. Dr. Randall Tweed is music director of the Grossmont Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale.

Premium seating tickets are priced at $55 per person. General seating tickets are priced at $45 for adults, $25 for students ($2 off for seniors and active military). A special price of $20 per person is available for both Grossmont and Cuyamaca students (with valid student ID).
