Singing In The Santee Community Chorus
My experience attending rehearsal with the Santee Community Chorus for the first time.
Last night I attended my first with the ! Music is one of my greatest passions, and though I enjoy writing and recording my own songs, sometimes I long to work alongside others. The Santee Community Chorus offered the perfect opportunity to do just that!
Since almost three years ago I have not been active in performing as I once had been. In Michigan I was involved in choir and the worship team at our church and loved it. I recently began to feel the desire to get involved again, but unfortunately our current church does not have a choir to join.
After doing a search online I came across an article here on Patch that was promoting a new choir right here in Santee. After reading a bit more about it online I called to ask a few questions and knew this may be just what I was looking for.
As I approached Santee last night, where rehearsals are held, I felt at ease immediately when I was greeted by several friendly people. They seemed pleased to have a new addition to the alto section, and for that I felt very welcome. The music selection was great as well and included was a variety of styles, such as songs from The Sound Of Music, Music Man and the Wizard Of Oz. We also worked on an uptempo jazz number and a beautiful new choral piece.
Our next performance is at on August 5th, prior to . I am really excited to be a part of this group right here in town, as they perform at many local events, as well as outside of Santee. In fact, one of their most exciting performances will be September 11th on Coronado Island, where several choirs will combine and sing with a concert band to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
The great thing about this choir is that it's open to anyone.
