Service with a Smile in Santee!
Those bright and yellow vests were seen busy in action on Saturday, April 28 by members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The 2012 annual "" Day of service benefited communities, parks, schools and families of California. Projects took place throughout the State with participants wearing the distinctive yellow Mormon Helping Hands vests.

In Santee, almost 400 volunteers took park to clean-up, beautify and restore an area of the . The area is adjacent to the Santee along the San Diego River. A variety of projects completed were trail maintenance, fencing installation, concrete breakdown and fencing removal, water primrose and tamarisk removal, mulch spreading, along with general trash clean-up in the entire park.
Helping Hands volunteers gathered at 9 a.m. at the Northeast Pavilion in the Walmart Parking Lot. Santee Vice Mayor visited to present a City Proclamation to the volunteers. An aide from Senator Joel Anderson’s office also presented a Proclamation.
The City of Santee, the , , , , the La Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club, members, along with local volunteers all joined together in this community effort. Thanks to the for the materials to complete the project.
