Watching Movies By The Lake

Our experience attending Movies By The Lake at Santee Lakes.

A couple weeks ago we attended one of the , which has been taking place this summer on Friday nights at .  It's a free event where everyone in the community is invited to bring their chairs, blankets & munchies and gather around a giant movie screen to watch a family-friendly film.

This was our first time attending this summer, but it was a great way to spend a Friday with friends and family!  This was a particularly special evening because our own for the friendly crowd before the movie began. Being a member myself, this was not only a fun experience, but also a great opportunity to spread the word about the .  We sang 5 songs total, including favorites like Over The Rainbow and Climb Every Mountain.

Afterward there were several games and contests for the kids to participate in. For those coordinated enough, they were given the opportunity to hula hoop their way to a prize.  For the younger kiddos, there was access to a playground and plenty of running space.  Personally, I enjoyed walking along the lake and taking in the gorgeous mountain views we are so blessed to have right in our backyard!

As I mentioned, people were welcome to bring their own food and snacks, but for those less interested in packing a picnic, a concession stand offered every movie-going snack imaginable—popcorn, candy, hotdogs, hamburgers, nachos and more!  All for much less than you would pay at any other theater.

So, which movie did we have the pleasure of seeing?  , which was definitely one of my favorites in the weekly lineup.  Although I own it on Blu-Ray, there is nothing like seeing a beloved film outdoors on a gorgeous summer night at .

If you haven't had a chance to make it to one of the previous nights, you are in luck!  Tonight is the last movie of the summer, so don't miss this opportunity to experience a fun, free night under the stars.  This time around they will be playing the magnificent "Toy Story 3".  Here is more info:
