Brawley Man ID'd as Victim in Fatal Crash on I-8 Near Boulevard

Authorities say the 24-year-old was ejected from his Infiniti G35 in the rollover wreck near McCain Valley Road.

BOULEVARD, CA: Authorities have released the name of 24-year-old man killed Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 8 east of San Diego.

Holden Tyler Mendoza, of Brawley, was pronounced deceased at 10:50 p.m. at the scene of the wreck, which was east of McCain Valley Road in Boulevard, according to a report from the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Mendoza — who was driving a 2003 Infiniti G35, California Highway Patrol Officer Mary Bailey told Patch — was speeding as he traveled westbound on I-8 approaching McCain Valley Road, according to report.

“He approached a curve and lost control of the vehicle,” the report states. “The vehicle left the roadway, rolled and came to rest down a steep embankment.”

Mendoza was ejected from the vehicle.

CHP officers responded to the crash site and confirmed his death, according to the report.

A CHP investigation of the fatal wreck was ongoing.
