
LAKESIDE, CA -- Firefighters were able to halt an eight-acre brush fire in a Lakeside river bottom Sunday afternoon.
It started as a half-acre blaze in the dry bed of the San Diego River, near the 14000 block of El Monte Road, before 3 p.m., according to information from Cal Fire San Diego.
The fire had a moderate rate of spread at the time. Cal Fire tweeted about 30 minutes later that the brusher was holding at eight acres.

By about 3:45 p.m., the forward spread had been completely stopped, the agency tweeted.
No structures were considered threatened by the blaze.
